Festival Dedication
This Year's Jazz and R&B Festival is dedicated to the living legend Rosetta Hines, best known as The Rose, She is one of the true pioneers of traditional and smooth jazz. She went on the air April 4, 1968 and is celebrating 42 years as a beloved music director and drive time announcer. She enhanced the careers of many legendary jazz performers i.e., Kem, Gary Taylor, Marion Meadows just to mention a few. In 1982, she was voted #1 DJ in Detroit. Rosetta Hines was the first black woman in Michigan to earn a degree in broadcast engineering and was the first honorary member of the National Association of Media Women in Detroit. Her merits are legendary and she will be honored on stage at this year?s Las Vegas Jazz and R&B Festival.
She is currently streaming 24/7 from Las Vegas on the internet at Hinesite5.com
